Sarah Michelle Gellar: Pregnant with Second Child!

A hearty round of congratulations are in order for Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.: the couple is expecting its second child!

“She and Freddie are thrilled,” a friend of Gellar and Prinze tells Us Weekly. “They’re amazing parents.”

The famous twosome met while filming the classic 1997 thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer, but didn’t start dating until three years later. They then married in September 2002 and welcomed daughter Charlotte Grace in September 2009.

The news of Gellar’s pregnancy arrives just as The CW is figuring out the fate of her latest series, Ringer – and let’s just say the beautiful mother will likely have a lot of free time ahead of her to spend with a new baby.

POWER (Private)

Temporary thread for our RP. Let’s get it!

?Trigga, do you not have class today?? Morgan asked. It was funny that she never used my real name, and there was a time I thought she didn?t even know it. What I really needed to concentrate on now was her question, not how she asked it. I opened my eyes to see the world clearer than I had ever seen it before. As I sat up I looked around as if I had just awoken from a deep sleep.

?Yeah, what time is it?? I said as I peered down at my watch. It was 11:00am

?It?s eleven.? Morgan answered looking at her phone. I had been under the sun for nearly two hours?

?Shit? I have class. You girls leaving?? I asked as I didn?t think them staying out here very healthy. ?Wait, you don?t have Monday classes, right??

?Nah. We?re going to go grab some lunch though.? Laura answered me this time. The last semester of senior year was hard, but it was kind of laid back. I remember preparing for this moment; the semester where I?d only have one hard class and few easy ones for credits. My next class was ballroom dancing. I know it sounded lame, but what guy would pass up dancing with girls. It was the easiest class of my life, and it helped me stretch out a bit. After that I?d have my Genetics class, and then I?d have work. As much as I feared that class, I knew it was a requirement for my major: Biology.

?Alright then,? I said as I got up with a stretch. The strange thing about standing up was that I felt like I was barely weighted down. It was as if I could feel the whole world beneath me. It was as if I was on some drug, yet I felt so almighty. Everything around me seemed like it was going at slower pace than my mind captured it? at least until I realized I needed to say goodbye. ?I?ll see you girl later. I gotta dance.? Once I said that, Laura?s eyes lit up.

?And you have to dance with me tomorrow.? She stated, as I didn?t just have one, but two dance classes. I enjoyed Latin dance class, but sometimes it was more of a workout than I wanted.

?Of course. I gotta dance with other girls though. People are starting to think we have a thing together.?

?They can think what they want baby? Laura joked as I walked way and laughed. I waved the trio goodbye before heading to my room as quickly as possible. It was kind of awkward to walk across campus without a shirt, but I dealt with it. Once I arrived there, there was a lot I had to do. The first thing I did was grab my dancing shoes and a stick of gum. I needed fresh breath if I was going to be face to face with some girl I barely even knew. I almost forgot to grab my backpack, and went toward my bed to go get it. It looked like Naje had gone through it. It was opened and some of my books were scattered around it.

?I?m gonna get him back, watch.? I said to myself as I quickly stuffed my books into the bag. I stuck the stick of gum into my mouth and chewed it rapidly. I looked at my watch to see that it was 11:05. I still had plenty of time. This power was starting to be amazing, if only I had my phone and debit card. I hoped to get them in the mail tomorrow if anything. It would be good to buy what I would need to help me practice my powers. Since I had the time to, I started to clean up the room. I had even organized our games DVDs, only to come across what I knew I?d find while doing it. I felt so fucking smart, and things would only get better. Looking down at my find, I smirked. It was Smallville Season 1. If I had the similar powers to Clark Kent, then watching his experiences might help me out a bit. I placed the DVD case onto my bed before doing more cleaning and in only ten minutes the room was cleaned. It sucked that I?d have to go to classes and then work before getting to watch some episodes, but I could wait.

It was 11:15 now, and I was contemplating going into class late. The temptation was strong, but I just sighed and changed into cargo shorts, and a black shirt. It would help soak up some rays. After looking in the mirror, I headed out. My dance class was a good distance away from my dorm, but I had the time to walk. I wondered what the others were up to, but then just shrugged it off. I just hoped they weren?t doing something that was? Suddenly I froze up as I felt as if I had done something horribly wrong. What was it though? What did I do? The feeling seemed to go away as mysteriously as it showed up; it kind of felt like yesterday, when I was talking to Wayman. I guessed it was a bad side effect to the powers and continued walking. I?d have to mention that to Floyd. Other than that weird moment and Nicole, today was turning out to be great.

mexmigration: History and Politics of Mexican Immigration: ACLU …

MICHIGAN LAWSUIT FOCUSES ATTENTION ON VIOLENT ILLEGAL ACTIONS BY LAW ENFORCEMENT

Moderator?s Note: As we continue to focus attention on the rampant violence perpetrated by law enforcement officers against immigrants we are sharing this important news release from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan, which has just sued federal immigration officials for human rights abuses of a legal immigrant and a citizen relative. The case involves charges of assault and unlawful detention against officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for the mistreatment and abuse of a legal permanent resident and a U.S. citizen that were profiled as ?illegal? aliens.?

As we conduct deeper research into this type of structural violence that accompanies the widening state of exception applied to Mexican and other Latina/o origin immigrants, we are finding that the number of such incidents is a serious threat to civil liberties, peaceful co-existence between the U.S. and Mexico, and the quest for a just and equitable immigration policy that addresses the needs of the growing numbers of victims of police state violence on both sides of the border. We are finding that these cases are much more common than we realize and that the majority go unreported for long periods due to police efforts to obscure or cover-up these crimes against humanity.

The United States has complained about its removal from the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR). It is our view that our country does not deserve such an honorable position until it earns the right to be a voice for human rights within its own borders. That right will be earned when our nation takes a hard honest look at and serious steps toward ending state violence against immigrants. It is time for the us to demand that the Department of Justice start prosecuting ICE, Border Patrol, and any other law enforcement agents guilty of murder, assault, rape, and other thug-like acts of hateful violence against unarmed innocent people who are only guilty of seeking work to survive or reunifying with their families.GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. ? The American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan and the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center filed a federal lawsuit today on behalf of a U.S. citizen and his mother, a legal permanent resident, who were illegally handcuffed and assaulted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents last year even though they produced driver?s licenses to prove their identities.

?Fairness and equality are the most fundamental values we share as Americans. There’s nothing fair or equal about arresting citizens and trampling on their rights because of the color of their skin or their ethnicity,? said Miriam Aukerman, ACLU of Michigan staff attorney. ?It is clear that if this mother and son were not Latino, they would not have been handcuffed, assaulted and detained. Not only is this type of racial profiling illegal, but it is counterproductive and erodes community trust.?

Telma Valdez has lived in the United States for 22 years and is a legal permanent resident. ?Her son, Luis Valdez, was born in the U.S. and is a college student at Grand Rapids Community College. On February 23, 2011, Telma and Luis drove to the home of relatives to allow their 6-year-old cousin to play with Luis? new puppy. As they pulled the car into the driveway, ICE agents ran toward them. An agent pointed a gun at Luis and demanded identification. Both Luis and Telma produced their valid driver?s licenses and ICE agents ordered them to get out of the car.

Telma was handcuffed and taken to the back of the car where an agent held a gun to her back and repeatedly hit her head into the trunk of the car, yelling at her to admit she was ?Irma.? Telma screamed out in pain and fear, begging the agent to stop. Luis was handcuffed, and both Luis and Telma were forced into an apartment.

Inside the apartment, Luis and Telma again tried to explain that he was a U.S. citizen and she was a legal permanent resident. ?Eventually, the agents realized what they had done. ?The agents released the Valdezes, but not before one agent threatened Telma that she risked losing her legal status if tried to do anything about what happened. The agents then pushed both Telma and Luis out of the apartment. While Luis was able to catch himself, Telma hit a handrail and sustained injuries to her stomach.

?Being born in the U.S., I?ve always felt like a true American. This has always been my home. But most importantly, I always believed I was equal to every other American,? said Luis. ?I never imagined that, just because of my skin color, I would end up in handcuffs and treated like a second-class citizen.?

In their 10-page lawsuit, the ACLU and MIRC asked the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan to declare that the ICE agents violated the Valdezes? Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable search and seizure and their Fifth Amendment right to equal protection under the law. The Valdezes also accused the ICE agents of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false arrest and imprisonment.?From Arizona to Michigan, the stories of racial profiling, intimidation and illegal detention are proof that what happened to Luis and Telma is not unique,? said Susan Reed, lead attorney with MIRC. ?Just this week, the U.S. Senate heard testimony in its first hearing on racial profiling in more than a decade. The message was clear ? it?s time we end such practices and hold law enforcement agencies that use these tactics accountable.?In addition to Aukerman and Reed, Luis and Telma are represented by Michael J. Steinberg of the ACLU of Michigan, ACLU Cooperating Attorney Rhett Pinsky, and Maura Hagen, MIRC staff attorney and Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow.Key News and Documents

Adobe unveils CS6 and subscription-based Creative Cloud service, up for pre-order now (video)

adobe creative cloud cs6

Adobe’s biggest day of 2012? Go ahead, don’t be afraid to call it what it (probably) is. For starters, the outfit is introducing Creative Suite 6 to the world in formal fashion, with 14 applications either unveiled or refreshed. Photoshop CS6 is graduating from beta — seeing an update that’ll provide “near instant results” thanks to the Mercury Graphics Engine — while Content-Aware Patch and Content-Aware Move are sure to please artists suffering from the “Surely you can fix this in post!” clientele backlash. Adobe Muse is happily entering the scene for the first time, described as a “radical tool that’ll enables designers to create and publish HTML5 web sites without writing code.” (We’re still waiting for Flash to comment.)

In related news, those who aren’t up for paying $1,299 (and up) for one of the new suites can try something a bit different: monthly installments. That’s coming courtesy of Creative Cloud, an quasi-new initiative designed to harness the power of cloud-based app distribution and streaming in a way that’ll make CS6 more accessible than any of the packs that came before. You can tap into CS6′s amenities over your broadband connection for $74.99 per month, while those who agree to an annual subscription can get in for $49.99 per month. To be clear, that provides unbridled access to any CS6 tool: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and AfterEffects, and the rest of the gang. If you’re jonesing for Photoshop alone, that one will be available for $29.99 per month month (no contract) or $19.99 per month (annual agreement). There’s no set release date just yet, but we’re told to expect the new goods “within 30 days,” and pre-orders seem to be a go. Head on down to the source links for more details on each individual aspect, and catch a promo video for the cloud-based subscription offering just after the break.

Gmelius Promises To Improve the Look and Feel Of Your Gmail Inbox

gmelius_logoGoogle started rolling out its new user interface for Gmail late last year. Not everybody is in love with it, of course, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that a little cottage industry of Gmail enhancement tools has cropped up over the last few months. Google will soon migrate even those users who have, until now, resisted this change to the new version. Even if you hate the new Gmail design, though, you can reclaim some of your sanity – and screen estate – with a browser extension like Gmelius, which came out of beta today. Among the most useful features that Gmelius offers are the ability to customize Gmail’s navigation icons to show both text and icons, for example, as well as tools to remove Google’s people widget and Google chat from your inbox. Gmelius is available for Chrome, Firefox and Opera.
